Paikannin.com Terminology Glossary
- Tachograph / digital tachograph = A device installed in a vehicle that, among other things, records a graph of the vehicle's speed onto a tachograph disc. The tachograph is legally mandatory in trucks and buses.
- Vehicle-specific speeding = A speed limit can be set for the vehicle on a vehicle-specific basis. If the set limit is exceeded, the system records an instance of vehicle-specific speeding
- API = An interface (Application Programming Interface) that enables the retrieval of data from Paikannin.com into another program
- CO2 emissions = Carbon dioxide emissions generated by, among other things, the use of fossil fuels. Emissions from driving include exhaust emissions as well as carbon dioxide emissions produced as a byproduct of fuel combustion
- DLKP = The abbreviation DLKP stands for Data Logger Keypad. The DLKP can be used to record various channels
- GDPR = A data protection regulation followed by companies and organizations, covering the collection, storage, and management of personal data. GDPR is established by the EU and stands for General Data Protection Regulation
- Geofence = An area defined on a map to which vehicle-specific alerts can be linked, triggered when the vehicle enters or leaves the area
- History device = A tracking device that is no longer in use. When a tracking device is deactivated in the system, it is converted into a historical device. The tracker's data remains in the system in case it needs to be examined later
- IMEI = a 15- or 17-digit number used to identify individual mobile devices operating on GSM or UMTS networks. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity
- IO signal = Some tracking devices can provide IO signals (Input/Output) that allow for the logging of data on specific types of work (e.g., snowplowing and sanding).
- IoT beacon = An IoT beacon can be used, for example, to locate tools or identify the driver. It is a small, battery-operated tracking device that connects to the vehicle's tracking unit via Bluetooth
- IP address = Internet Protocol, which handles the delivery of IP packets in packet-switched data networks
- Channel data = It is possible to obtain data from tracking devices (NOTE! Depends on the installation setup) regarding the various channels currently in use (e.g., snowplowing, sanding) for analysis and reporting purposes
- Centrifugal force = A centrifugal force driving event is recorded if the tracking device's G-sensor detects a centrifugal force of 3 m/s² or greater)
- Harsh braking = A hard braking event is recorded when the vehicle brakes suddenly (2.5 m/s² or harder)
- Utilization rate = The percentage of time the vehicle has been in use
- Access profile = The service allows for the creation of access profiles with varying permission levels for users—such as driver, supervisor, or mobile login. Different access rights are defined for each profile. Using profiles eliminates the need to assign permissions individually to new users; instead, the relevant rights take effect as soon as a specific profile is assigned to a user account
- Device group = In Paikannin.com, vehicles can be grouped according to your preferences (e.g., by branch, vehicle type, etc.). Grouping devices makes using the system and analyzing data easier, especially when managing a large fleet
- Device Movement History = A playback feature on the Paikannin.com "Map" tab that allows you to view the trips driven by selected vehicles in the map view
- Odometer = Vehicle mileage. With some tracking devices, this is obtained automatically from the vehicle's CAN bus; with others, the initial reading must be entered into the system manually
- Named location = An area defined on the map that can be utilized, for example, in reporting and analysis
- Rapid acceleration = A rapid acceleration driving event is recorded when the vehicle accelerates suddenly (2.5 m/s² or faster)
- Emission value = An emission value determined for each vehicle, representing the amount of carbon dioxide emissions the vehicle produces per 100 kilometers (CO2 g/km)
- Emission calculation method = Choice of either the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) or NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) emission measurement. The choice of emission calculation method affects the calculation of CO2 values in analyses and reports
- Location group = Named locations can be grouped in Paikannin.com based on your own criteria, in the same way as devices
- Identifier = The identifier is associated with user accounts and logging in as a driver. Creating an identifier for the user is not mandatory if the driver login feature is not in use
- Watchdog = An alarm/monitoring feature. If the tracking device fails to connect to the tracking system within the time specified in the device settings (e.g., due to device failure or the vehicle being out of signal range, such as underground), the watchdog activates and sends a watchdog alarm to designated recipients.
