# How to Set Device Usage Times

**Usage** **times** can be set for the devices. The purpose of this setting is to enable more precise monitoring, ensuring that vehicles are not driven outside the agreed operating hours. Trips made outside these hours appear, for example, as red bars on the dashboard display instead of the standard blue bars.

Operating hours can be set per weekday and defined separately for each day of the week. If you wish to trigger alerts for trips made outside these operating hours, enable the "**Alert from exception**" option.

Please note that the usage time set for the device remains with the device, even if it is moved to another [device group](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/how-to-configure-customer-settings?hsLang=en).
