If device-specific alarms are required, recipients must be assigned for each alarm via the alarm recipient setting. Unless a recipient is specified, alarms will not be sent, even if they have otherwise been activated. Alarms can be sent to the user in the following formats: - SMS - The recipient's phone number is required for SMS alerts - Email - The recipient's email address is required for the email alert - Popup - A pop-up alert appears when the user logs into the Paikannin.com   Alerts can be sent to the recipient for the following events: - [Automatic alerts](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/how-to-set-up-automatic-alerts?hsLang=en) - Automatic alerts are created and explained in section 7.10.4 of this manual - Time counter - The time counter alarm activates when the value entered in the "Maintenance interval" field under "Channel timing" is exceeded. Note that for this function to work, channel timing must be enabled for the tracking device by the system administrator - [Geofence](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en) - A geofence alert is triggered if the vehicle enters or leaves a specific geofence area. To enable the alert, you must also select the desired geofences under "Geofence alerts” - Maintenance reminder: odometer - Maintenance interval reminder: the odometer alert activates if the odometer reading entered for the vehicle exceeds the odometer reading specified in the “[Maintenance alerts](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/how-to-set-up-maintenance-alerts?hsLang=en)” tab - Maintenance reminder: date - Maintenance interval reminder: the date-based alert activates when the date of a reminder set on the “Maintenance alerts” tab is reached - [Channel](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en) - Channel alarms allow a specific message to be sent to the recipient when a particular channel (e.g., snowplowing or sanding) is activated or deactivated - [Watchdog](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en) - A watchdog alarm is triggered if the tracking device fails to check in with the Paikannin.com within the set time limit.
