# How to Configure Device Basic Settings

The basic settings section allows you to modify the basic settings. The following fields are found in the basic settings:

- Name 
    - Device name displayed, for example, in reports or the map view. A field identifying the device, usually the registration number. This information is copied automatically to invoices.
- [IMEI](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en) 
    - Tracking device’s IMEI identifier (cannot be changed)
- Serial number 
    - Tracking device’s serial number (cannot be changed)
- Device groups 
    - Shows which device groups the device belongs to
- Icon 
    - A different icon can be defined for the device, which is displayed in the map view

- Description
- Data source on dashboard 
    - Routes 
          - The Paikannin.com displays route information in the dashboard view
    - All data 
          - The Paikannin.com displays locations on the dashboard view based on all data transmitted by the device. It does not generate routes
- State 
    - One of the following statuses can be assigned to the vehicle: 
          - Free
          - Reserved
          - In use
- Use IO to change state 
    - The device status can be determined automatically based on an I/O signal from the tracking device. Note that this function is specific to the make and model of the tracking device
- Cost center 
    - A cost center can be assigned to the device. This information is copied automatically to invoices.
- Standard driver 
    - A standard driver can be assigned to the device. The default driver's name will appear on reports, among other things. This field is not mandatory.
- Driver GSM
- [Odometer](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en) 
    - The vehicle's odometer reading can be updated in the field. Note that the odometer reading must be entered in meters
- [CO2 emissions (CO² g/km)](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en) 
    - Vehicle CO2 emission value for emission calculations
- [Emission calculation type](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en) 
    - For calculating emissions, either the NEDC or WLTP emission calculation method must be selected
- Timezone 
    - Time zone assigned to the tracking device
- Vehicle specific overspeed limit (km/h)
- Fuel type 
    - Petrol
    - Diesel
    - Gas
    - Electric
- Average fuel consumption (l/100km)
- Contacts
- Engine
- Free text
- License plate
- Make
- Mass
- Model
- Registration date
- Vehicle manager
- Vehicle responsible
- Vehicle type
- VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
- Source for DLKP descriptions 
    - Option to read the [DLKP](https://support.gsfleet.io/knowledgebase/terminology?hsLang=en)description from the customer data or from the data defined for the device
- Channels 
    - Channels used by the device
- Users with locate device privilege 
    - Users listed that can locate device in the map view
- Users with use device privilege

 Users listed that can log in as a driver to the device
